In the course of coming, going, doing things, and taking care of business, occasionally we might stop, look around, and think: well, this isn't exactly how I thought things would go. These moments may be accompanied by impatient emotions. Let us take comfort in knowing there is always something that can be done to alleviate this disquiet and interrupt contrary cycles. We can always begin again.

All of my work is created using high quality paints and mediums. This painting is varnished, gallery-wrapped with black hand-painted edges with picture wire on back. Ships in a box.

About the Artist

Jessica Eichman

Nashville, Tennessee

"THROUGH THE ACT OF PAINTING, THE PAINTING HAPPENS.

My work is a balance of intention and chance—control versus surrender. Allowing a painting to develop, collaborating with the creative process rather than directing it, is the heart of my painting practice. If there is an overarching theme to my work, then it is about letting go; letting go of expectations, rules, desire, and fear. It requires a leap of faith, a willingness to fail, and a belief that the simple act of mixing paint and slathering it onto a canvas will eventually turn into something that touches truth.

Thoughtful abstract compositions invite creative thinking and more meaningful interactions with others. By showing up and being present to my own artistic practice, I feel connected to an authenticity that is bigger than myself. By sharing my work with others, I hope to inspire conversation that goes beyond image.

THROUGH THE ACT OF LIVING, LIFE HAPPENS." -Jessica Eichman
